Normalcy returned to Kashmir valley but the state’s
multi-billion tourism industry is worried counting its losses estimated to the
score Rs. 100 crore a day. After nine
days of curfew and strike in the aftermath of the execution of Parliament attack
convict Mohammad Afzal Guru the government and private offices and other
commercial establishments opened as per their normal schedule. Public transport
was also seen plying on the roads. Curfew may have been lifted in Kashmir but
the longanimity continues for shikaras on the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar on
one hand and on the other hand hotels are recording cancellations and airlines
have reduced the number of flights or slashed rates by 50 to 60 per cent.
People are disappointed with the restrictions.
